What HamikVPN is
HamikVPN is a small self-hosted VPN service. That means we don't resell capacity from someone else's VPN provider under our own brand: the servers are deployed and administered by us directly, on rented infrastructure in different countries. The connection runs on the AmneziaWG protocol — an obfuscated fork of WireGuard with open cryptography that's been reviewed by independent researchers.
Who runs the service
HamikVPN is run by a small team with no registered legal entity — the service operates as a personal project, not a registered company. We don't invent a "team of experts" or job titles that don't exist: it's the same honesty standard we hold to on the blog — more about that on the editorial policy page. Why self-hosted instead of a ready-made solution
When a VPN service rents access to someone else's infrastructure or resells a ready-made pool of servers, there's no way to verify the claim "we don't keep logs" from the outside — you just have to take it on faith. By running the servers ourselves, we can give a substantive account of what's actually processed and what isn't logged, on a technical level rather than as a marketing line — that's described in the privacy policy. This isn't a guarantee in the legal sense (it doesn't replace an audit by an independent third party), but it is the difference between "trust us" and "here's what actually happens technically."
Where the servers are physically located
Accounts and the dashboard's operational data are stored on servers in the European Union (Finland). The VPN nodes that carry the encrypted traffic are located in several countries — the specific list of servers is visible when you choose a connection in the app and the dashboard.
